IBC Bank Branch Gone from Uvalde
On IBC Bank’s final day of operation last Thursday, March 31st, customers were still coming to the branch location inside Walmart depositing checks and doing other banking as bank staff were packing up and preparing to close its last location in Uvalde for good.
In the fall of 2021, IBC Bank Manager Arthur Thomas made an announcement to the Rotary Club of Uvalde notifying the club members IBC was planning on leaving Uvalde but the closure would occur in 2022.
IBC Bank once had two locations including a bank building with a lobby on East Main Street and a branch location at the Walmart located in Uvalde as well as two ATM’s. Having the only large billboard inside the city limits, IBC Bank also brought banking seven days a week to Uvalde.
In the weeks leading up to the closure, customers of the bank were told by the bank’s staff the nearest IBC branches are located in San Antonio and Eagle Pass.
While the ATM’s are removed and the small sign on the Walmart storefront has been removed, the Uvalde location page official IBC bank website still shows the location as being open.
While current IBC Bank customers still have accounts and can do banking using the IBC Bank’s app, there are still questions as to the reason or reasons why the bank left Uvalde.
